REGISTER NOW! (Click Here)
Registration is open until midnight, Thursday August 21! Limited on-site registration available!
Back in 2008/2009 Superfly helped a little bit with the 2-year 8 Hours of Superior Singletrack – and I even got to race one of the years! I did a tag-team with now Mayor of Uxbridge, Dave Barton, and it was a fantastic day of riding! This was put of by the Sault Cycling Club, with a lot of help from Brad at Algoma Bicycle Co.
Fast forward nearly 20 years, and the trail system at Hiawatha has gone from good, to the best and most comprehensive trail system in Ontario! Millions of dollars, and the vision of the local municipality has seen Sault Ste. Marie burgeon into a top riding destination, and when added to the multitude of amazing places to visit, the Sault is worth the drive north! Stick around and explore the shores of Mighty Lake Superior, or check out all the backcountry adventures!
We are planning a 10km loop for all teams of 3-4, while for the solo and tag team riders, we are planning a longer, 18 km loop so the event feels a little less like groundhog day! A post race BBQ, and afterparty at one of the Sault’s awesome destinations will cap off an amazing day!
Event Schedule
Friday, August 22 – Both courses will be marked, open all day for pre-riding! The split for solo/tag will be well marked!

Arch Hospice provides end of life care to hundreds of those living out their final days. We are adding the 8 Hour as a part of their Bucket list cycle ride – simply sign up below, add sponsors, and they can sponsor each km ridden – or each hour, every dollar matters! If you’re up to a full weekend of riding, you can even do their St. Joseph Island ride the following day – or look for others to donate!
Day 1 – is of course the 8 Hours of Superior Singletrack, at Hiawatha Highlands.

Whether it’s taking the Agawa Canyon Tour train into the backcountry, or taking a drive up Superior’s rugged shoreline, it’s worth making a trip out of the Epic 8! The COURSE(S)
While it’s a good problem to have – we will have to narrow down the amazing cornucopia of world class trails to just 10km for the team events, and 15-18km for Solo/Tag! Both courses will stick to the Crystal trail network, while the Solo/Tag will venture further into the Farmer Lake trail system – Superfly will be heading up this spring to design the course with some trusty locals (read: Darrel), and will have the map up by mid August

Event support
We will have music and a fully stocked aid station to support especially the solos and tag teams, the Sault locals always know how to make everyone feel special while they put the pedals down on their fantastic trail system!
